Week 3 progress

Sunday-not much done. Did the 1 hour thing on cleaning. Then my BFF called and we were on the phone for over an hour. Tried one more time to get the glow in the dark thread to work but------alas. I am going with the gray thread.

Monday-going to finally get the skull quilt off today! Loaded the new BOM and ready to rock and roll on it tomorrow.

Tuesday-went for walk with BQB. Came home and went downstairs to work on BOM. I sort of got a squirrel moment. But it was good. I decided before I did anything else I was going to change the cover on my ironing board. The old one was GONE!! It was beyond gone. So off it came. I put new batting and a new cover on. Now on to the BOM. Got it done and sewed binding to front. In the evening I finished sewing binding on Skull quilt and then sewed binding down on the BOM.

Wednesday-had to do some housework upstairs to get ready for my sewing group on Thursday. We ended up losing power for about an hour. Once I got done upstairs, I went down and got backing ready for the next quilt to go on the machine. That would be the Tumbler quilt (leader and Enders from Bonnie Hunter). Got that quilt loaded on the machine.

Thursday-BQB came over and we went for our walk. Went downstairs and did some sewing before meeting (that starts at 1 o'clock). She worked on the raffle quilt and I just wanted to do something mindless, so I worked on some crumb blocks. The girls started arriving so we went upstairs to start the meeting. Up there we discussed the agenda for this year, did show and tell and had treats. We went downstairs and BQB continued working on the raffle quilt. A couple of the others ladies brought projects to sew up (I have enough machines set up for us), and I cut some more hourglass leader and Enders.

Friday-had an early morning dentist appointment. Then went and paid P.O. Rent for the year. Came home and started cleaning off my desk and gathering stuff to do my B&O taxes. Did nothing the rest of the day.

Saturday-Finished gathering info for taxes. Came downstairs and worked on the newsletter I do for our little Paws to Sew group along with some other computer work. That's about all I accomplished today.

Week 2 progress.

Let's start with--

Sunday-came down and did very little straightening. I did sew on some crumb blocks.

Monday-out at LQS for Mini of the Month Club and Open Sew.

Tuesday-back out to LQS to work on picking fabric and cutting it for the new BOM that starts in March.

Wednesday-started working on new BOM. Got 6 blocks done. Got new Glow in the Dark thread on and tried that on the longarm. Still shreds so I guess I won't be using it to quilt my skull quilt. On to Plan B. Also worked on making Microwavable bowl holders for the craft show I do at the end of the year.

Thursday-BQB came over and she worked on the raffle quilt for the retreat we go to in April. I had to make a second BOM for the LQS. I had done one out of my stash just to show what the quilt would look like as far as pattern. Now we have the fabrics in that we will use for this so another quilt needed to be made using this fabric. One thing I must explain is the blocks will be made in these new colors but the customers will choose what they want to use out of the collection for their sashings and the strippy.

This is the first one Idid.

This is the second one.

Friday-came downstairs and decided I would take up Bonnie Hunter's challenge to first take an hour and do some cleaning before sewing. Here is the area I chose to clean up. It is the area where I work on machines. Here's the before and after. Amazing what you can accomplish in an hour.

After I got this done I was going to sew, but hubby came down to see about fixing the heat down here. I had heat mats in the floor but something is going on with them and so I have opted to have him take the circuit that the thermostat is on and put in a plug so I can use a heater. It needs to be on a different circuit so that I can have that on and the iron and not get strobe lights in the ceiling when both are on :-). So off we went to get a heater. When we got home we had lunch and then the Seahawks game was on.

Saturday-today I will do the one hour challenge. I have made a back for the new BOM so I hope to finally get the Skull quilt off. (If I can not get the glow in the dark thread to work I will use a regular gray thread.) Then I will load the BOM and get it done. I really would like to get some of my quilts quilted this month while I am on hiatus for client quilts.

That's it for this week.

First Week of the New Year

Okay. Let's get this show on the road.

First finish of the New Year.

This is the Block of the Month we will be doing out at Gee Gee's Quilting.

Now for Progress report (starting on Sunday).

Sunday-came  down to the sewing room and started cleaning. I have a closet under the staircase that really needed to be cleaned out. I have just been shoving stuff in there all year. I basically want to store mostly my battings in there. It took me half a day, but it is cleaned out of everything else. All I have in there now is batting, stuffing and pillow forms. Yeah. I also spent some time folding the fabric that I cleaned out of the way going into the closet (and in the closet). then I finished loading one of my quilts on the long arm.

Monday-out at Gee Gee's all day for the Block of the Month classes and an Open Sew class.

Tuesday-back down folding MORE fabric.

Wednesday-down again cleaning and folding fabric. Tried to get started on the Skull quilt but the glow in the dark thread I got is not working. When I wound some bobbins I noticed that I could feel some slubs.

Thursday-went looking for more glow in the dark thread. I won't work either. Then I had to go through my quilts with DH so he could pick one to give to the Secretary at the Union Hall. She's such a sweetie. Oh and he took me out to lunch.

Friday-went to the Hall with DH to give her the quilt.

Saturday-back at cleaning. I cleaned  up the shelving that holds my machines. There was a really big mess in front of it and not a clear space on it. Then I cut out a couple of quilts and tried to decide what I'm going to pack for a retreat at the end of the month.

So, I really didn't get a lot of sewing done, but at least I can walk around to sewing room again.

Another thing. I was talking with my BFF Vickie and we have decided to challenge each other with getting some stuff done. We are going to try to complete one thing a month out of our UFO's. Here is my list so far (we need 12).
1. Snowflake Hexies
2.  Vintage Tin Embroidery
3.  Wild Child quilt
4.  Black Embroidered Cats from Lorelei
5.  Mini's for Mini of the Month Club (3)
6.  2015 Alternate BOM from Gee Gee's
7.  Black/pink Quilt for a Cure Quilt

That's all I have so far. I know there's still a lot of UFO's hiding. I just need to pick the one's that are do-able.
