Have I really been gone this long?

I noticed the last I posted was in September. Really?????
Well with the New Year starting I will get my rear in gear. I hope.

I will still do my weekly lists of what I have accomplished for the week. That may be the only post that week, but it will be a post.

How many of you are doing Bonnie's Mystery Quilt? I have been downloading the steps, but I haven't started yet. I want to get some other things out of the way first.

BQB and I are still getting together on Thursday's for our sewing day. This year we are going to try to get a few UFO's done first, then we have our new project picked out for our "pat on the back" for getting UFO's done. We decided we would do Elizabeth Hartmans' pattern called Aviatrix Medallion.

Image result for Aviatrux medallion pattern
The last one we did was Gypsy Wife, so this one should be a piece of cake :-).

Well making this short for now cause I gotta go and do some sewing.

Week ending 9/9/16

Let's start with ------

Saturday-fun day. Went to Packwood for the day. The whole town is one big flea market. I made a few purchases. I did stop at the Quilt Shop and bought some stuff. Then hit another vendor with fabric and got some there. As we walked along we came to another booth that had fabric. This was from an Estate Sale and the fabric was $3.00 a yard. Most of it was nice fabric. I got a few yards there also. We walked the whole town. By the time I went to bed I had almost 14000 steps in.

Sunday-went to the fair. Didn't take as long as Packwood. Got a License Plate frame for my project car. It says, I Saw It--I Wanted It--I Threw a Fit--I Got It!

Monday-came downstairs for a little while. Made a Barbados Bag. Then went upstairs and finished watching The 2 Harry Potter movies on TV.

Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday-I'm bundling all together cause I really don't remember all of it. I know I finished a client quilt. Made some more Barbados Bags and Wallets.

I think that kept me busy enough for the week.

Oh yeah, my car is finally getting put together. The engine is in and they are putting the tranny in now. Hooray!!!!!! Progress.

That's all for now.

Week Ending 9/1/16

Okay. Since I added Friday on to the last post, I will start on ------------

Saturday-at LQS for the final Beginning Quilt Class. Boy those women blew me away!!! Usually we are still working on the last block and borders (then try to get borders on). These ladies had their borders on and ready to baste. This last class was FANTASTIC!!!! My hat's off to them.

Sunday-was going to go downstairs and work but got side-tracked. Went out to check on the pears in the garage (waiting to ripen). About a third of them were ready. So I spent the morning canning (which I haven't done in about 20 years). Then I remembered I had picked up some more Hatch Chilies, soooooooooo, I roasted and peeled them, and put them up. Needless to say, my day was done.

Monday-Let's see. I came down and did some computer work. Placed some orders. Then I got busy cutting out some more Necessary Wallet Clutches. I don't think I showed the ones I made last week so here they are.

These things are like potato chips. I can't stop making them
I also made the last 6 blocks for the Farm Girl Vintage BOM at the Quilt Shop..

Tuesday-quilted the LowRider quilt. Put the binding on the front. Went to get haircut. Stopped to get more fabric for MORE Necessary Wallets.

Wednesday-went to Olympia to pay on the car. It is now in the paint booth. They will put the first coat on and then we have to wait on the delivery of the metallic chips I wanted.

Thursday-BQB day. I cut out more Wallets and then cut out all the interfacings and such. I now have enough for 20 wallets. I also made a Barbados bag.

Friday- Delivered the flakes to Olympia. They weren't the size I wanted so I did a little research and I think I have finally found them. I have to wait to call on Tuesday to check on them.

That's it for this week.

Design Wall 8/29

This is what's on my design wall. It will be there for awhile. I am sort of playing around with how I want to finish it. I embroidered out the skulls over the past year.

I'm keeping everything black and white. The skulls have been embroidered on the Fairy Frost that glows in the dark.

Linking with Patchwork Times.HERE. Check out all the projects.

Week ending 8/25/16

Well this week I did manage to get a few (very few) things done.

I can't even remember what I did Friday thru Sunday. (edit-Saturday I had #3 of Beginning Quilt class at LQS. Boy those students amaze me. This is the first class that has stayed ahead of where we should be.)

Monday I went out to the LQS to meet a client and pick up a quilt to do. Then ran some errands.

Tuesday-went to Olympia to visit my car and see how it is coming along. It should possibly have some paint on it by the end of the week..

Wednesday-loaded client quilt that I picked up on Monday (it was a rush job). Got it quilted and loaded the next quilt on.

Thursday-BQB came over and w went for our walk. Came back and she worked on inventory for our next show. I worked on client quilt.  .

Friday-finished quilting client quilt. Boy it was a big one. 96" x 110". I also got another Necessary Wallet Clutch made.

That's about it for the week.

Week Ending 8/18/16

Let's see how productive I am this week.

Friday-ran errands and didn't feel like doing anything downstairs so I actually did some housework (gasp).

Saturday-at LQS for Beginning Quilt class. The students are really excited about class. They had homework done. In fact we are a little ahead of where we are suppose to be.

Sunday-went downstairs and worked on a purse.

Monday-Finished up quilting my quilt that was on the machine. Made another Necessary Wallet Clutch.

Tuesday-client came back and brought the quilt that I missed a block on when quilting it. Got that fixed. Went shopping to pick up some supplies for inventory.

Wednesday-loaded client quilt and started on it. Neighbor came over, so spent time visiting.

Thursday-went for walk and then went to BQB's because the Thursday monthly meeting was over at her house this month because it was our Picnic Month.

On another front. This pic is a test of the lace that will be on my car when it gets done. The fender isn't for my car. It's just one they use for the test.

Not too productive this week. I'll try harder for next week.

Week ending 8/11/16

Ready? Go!!!

Friday-absolutely nothing done. Hubby said we need to go grocery shopping. By the time we got home it was lunchtime. Then I need to start on some baking I wanted to do (and I didn't burn down the house :-). I feel like baking once every three years or so (lol).

Saturday-out at the LQS for a Beginning Quilting Class. Class was a full one. Everyone did really good. When class was over everyone was right where we should be when we stop for the day.

Sunday- worked downstairs on the Necessary Clutch Wallet and watched Quilt Cam,

Monday-out at LQS for the Mini of the Month Club and an Open Sew class. Really good day. We had lots of fun in both classes.

Tuesday-nothing done downstairs. Had to go and get blood drawn and BOY! Did that hurt. I am usually a "hard stick". I made sure I drank plenty of water, but that didn't even help this time. Of course, I had a newbie. Finally, the regular guy took over and got what was needed. Got stuck 4 or 5 times to get it done though. From there I went to Artco for their Fabricadabra meeting. There was a good turn out.

Wednesday- came down and straightened up a little. Then I finished sewing the strips on Wild Child. Now to get started on the applique. I also traced out the next embroidery for the Vintage Tin. Added 2 borders on a 5 yard quilt I started at retreat in June. Then built out the backing as far as I could with the leftovers.

Thursday-quilting with BQB. But first had to go to Dr's. for 6 month check up. Everything is a-ok. Worked on getting the final borders on the Tumbler quilt that I did using them as Leader & Enders. This was Bonnie Hunter's year long project for L&E's. This year it is Hourglass blocks. Now I have to get busy and get lots of those cut up.

I also put up my Skull blocks and am going to start working on those. I won't post any pics on that one until the top is complete.

That's all for this week.

Week ending 8/4/16

Friday-Nothing done. Took the day off and went to the Good Guys Car Show at the fairgrounds. Nice WARM day for it. Ended up buying a car cover for La Pistola (my other project). Have to wait about 4 weeks for it cause it's custom made for that style car. Which is okay because the car won't be home for another month and a half or so.

Saturday-down early to get started on the rest of the BOM. I was down here from 8 AM until 8 PM working on the new BOM. I think I put in a good days work. Still need to finish up the borders.

Sunday-Back down early. Got the borders on by 12:30. I must say, this pattern went together soooooo well. Everything matched up perfectly on the pieced border. The rest of the day was spent relaxing. The best thing was that this was a Happy Potter weekend on TV. That kept me company during the work hours.

Monday-at LQS for the Block of the Month Classes.

Tuesday-went for walk with BQB. Then I played hookey from work and went to BBF's house and played with her and her machines for a while.

Wednesday- had some running around to do this AM. Got home around noon and after lunch I went downstairs and started cutting. I have cut 6 Do-Rags, I also cut out a Necessary Wallet Clutch.

Thursday-BQB came over and we went for our walk. Came back and started working right away. She is working on the next year's raffle quilt for a retreat. I started working on one of the Mini's for the Mini of the Month Club. Worked on that for a while and got bored, so I started working on some inventory for the shows. Went as far as I could go on those and then started adding some strips to the Wild Child Quilt that I am working on. (More on that to come.)

That's about it for this week.

Week ending 7/28/16

Here we go.

Friday-really had no desire to go down and work, but one of the "girls" called and was having trouble with fusibles. So she came over and I helped her out with that. Other than that, nada.

Saturday-really didn't want to do anything, but I came down and worked on a sample for the Mini of the Month group.

Sunday-decided I really need to get something done so I came down and started working on another car quilt. Then caught up on computer work. Had to print out some new patterns and some more Beginning Quilt books. Also started work on writing up a new pattern. Then I started quilting the quilt (on of mine) that's on the LA.
Here's the car quilt I have completed the top.

Monday-had to go out to the LQS to pick up kit for the next Block of the Month. Came home and finished up sewing on the car quilt top.

Tuesday-went for walk with BQB. Came home and had some banking business to take care of and then ran to the big box sewing store to get a light bulb and split rings for projects. Then worked in the yard for the rest of the day. DH is re-doing the fence and we had to empty may garden shed and move it out, last week, so he could get to the fence in that part of the yard. Got it moved back and then I had to put everything back in.

Wednesday-just got down here. My objective today is to get the backing pieced for the car quilt. Make another sample for the Mini of the Month. Find backings for 2 other Mini's I've gotten done. Do some quilting on the quilt I STILL have on the machine, and start cutting on the new Block of the Month. Let's see what I get done.
Edit: I did make the backing for the car quilt. Started on the next sample for the Mini. Got the backing for the 2 other mini's and then decided to go ahead and get them quilted, put binding to the front and finished them up in the evening. Did not quilt on the LA.

Thursday-BQB came over and I worked on the New BOM that I need to have ready by Monday (top only). Got 7 of the blocks made.

That about covers it for this week.

Week ending 7/21/16

Here's this week in a nutshell.

Friday-Finished client quilt and loaded the next one.

Saturday-quilted client quilt and then put on another one. Got that one finished too. No, I'm not a super quilter. Both were on the small side. I am now at a point that I can work on some of my stuff. More or less caught up on client quilts (if that's ever possible).

Sunday-came down and started on some of my things. Have to make inventory for quilt shows and a craft show I do. Started working on the little mini duffels I make. Today will be a me day :-).
Ended up working on the duffel  sand piecing some on the tumbler leaders and Enders. Time to finish that up and get ready for Bonnie's new leader and ender challenge for this year.

Monday-out at the LQS all day for the Mini of the Month Club.

Tuesday-morning walk with BQB and then had to run down to Olympia and take parts and supplies for the car project.

Wednesday-clean up the house a little for the little sewing group meeting tomorrow. Then down to service 2 machines for customers. After that loaded one of my quilts to get done.

Thursday-BQB came over and we went for our walk. Came back and came downstairs. She went to work on the quilt for the next retreat raffle and I just sort of looked at mags and books. Not really into sewing or anything right now. Sort of a little head trip going on  right now and need to talk myself out of it. Later the "girls" came over for our meeting.

That's about it for this week. Hopefully I will be back to normal by this next week.

Week ending 7/14/16

Friday-finished client quilt. Loaded another one on and got it halfway done.

Saturday-finished quilt. It took me a while to get it done because all of a sudden my bobbin thread kept jumping out of the tension slot. After picking out several times I pulled out my old bobbin case and did some work on it (it wouldn't keep any tension) and got it to working. Whew! Loaded a quilt back on (the one I finished last week and discovered a cold in the back and had to pick out 2 partial rows) and got that part re-quilted and DONE! Loaded a 3rd quilt and got started on that before calling it a day. Stick a fork in me-----I'M DONE!!!!

Sunday-finished quilt and loaded a bed runner on. Got that one done and was going to load another on and stopped. I decided that that was enough for the week. I was going to take a half day off and veg. So, that's what I did.

Monday-out at LQS for the block of the month. So the day was shot cause I get out there about 8:30 AM and get home about 7:30 PM.

Tuesday-Came down and wondered what to start on this AM. Started with sewing up 30 Pretty Pockets. If you missed my post on what these are find out their story HERE. Then it was on to sewing up a backing for one of my 5 yard quilts. Next up. piecing a client backing together. She sent a backing that she thought was big enough. When I went to put in on, the width was 3" short of the top. Luckily she had sent a 108" piece. I had enough to trim off one end and piece to the side to make it wide enough. Got the quilt loaded on the machine and ready to rock & roll on it tomorrow. Made the 6 blocks that our little weekly meeting group is trading each month.

Wednesday-came down and decided to work on some of the little duffels that I make to sell at a craft show I vend at in November. Spent some time picking out fabric for another car quilt.  Now to get started on the client quilt I have loaded. Started on quilt and almost have it finished.

Thursday-this is sewing day with BQB. It's been about a month since we've gotten together to have a sew day. It's normally every Thursday, but with going to retreat, then she went with DH to visit Mother -in-law is CA. So, we finally got back on schedule. Since we finished The Gypsy Wife, it's now time to go back to doing some UFO's. I had a second Moth in the Window that needed finishing. I got to work on getting the top set together and here it is.

Then I wanted to work on the 2015 Leader & Ender Tumblers from Bonnie Hunter. I want to get this done because by the end of the month she will be starting a new Leader/Ender project. I love doing this cause uses up scraps and I make 2 quilts at once. Here it is. It's still a work in progress.

That's what I have accomplished this week. Let's see what next week brings.

Val's Piggy Bank Challenge #4

                                                                 Val's Quilting Studio

This will be the fourth year for the challenge. I am going to try to out do my last count. Although I think I did pretty good this last year. I need to buy more winning scratch tickets. If I win anything greater that $10.00 that goes into the bank. Only thing is I don't but that many.

I think this year I will put money towards something quilty. I should have my car done by then (LOL). If I can save A LOT--who knows, I might get a new embroidery machine. Shoot for the moon, I say.

If you want to participate, sign up HERE. Let's see if we can get a record amount of participants in on this.

Week ending 7/7/16

I am going to run my weeks from Friday to Thursday to keep track of my work progress.

Friday- got down here early and just puttered around at first. I unloaded and went through my project bag that I took to Idaho. I finished stuffing the pillows that go with the Quest for a Cure totes. Then I printed the labels and pinned them to 30 Pretty Pockets that go to the same place. After that I got started quilting the commission quilt that I have to get out this week. Got it finished and applied the binding to the top and will sit tonight and sew down to the back. Then I loaded a quilt that I am adding more quilting to some places. After customer and I talked about the quilting and I got it done, she decided she wanted a little more.

Saturday-came down and did some computer stuff. Trying to get back to journaling the quilts that I have finished. Started quilting one of my quilts that I loaded yesterday after finishing filling in the flower quilt. Got that finished and the binding on and ready to sew down when I can. Cleaned up a little and oiled up the longarm. Loaded another client quilt and am ready to rock and roll on it. I don't know if I'll start it today or in the morning. I have to leave shortly to check up on BQB's fur babies. They left today (BQB and her DH, not the fur babies) to go visit family.

Sunday-finished up a client quilt. Thought everything was going sooo smooth. Well guess what? I took the quilt off and found a spot on the backing that has a fold in it. Arghhhhh! No I have to pick out. Oh well. Keeps me humble I guess. I also starting writing up a pattern that I designed for a Mini of the Month group at my LQS. After gnashing my teeth about the quilt I went and tore down a machine that I have to service. I'll try getting that done by Wednesday at least. I also worked a little on the binding of my quilt that I got done the other day.

Monday-Finished writing the pattern up. Finished Mini top for the pattern and got pics for cover. Then I loaded up client quilt and got it quilted. Finished up sewing the binding on my car quilt.
Here's the finished product. I will list it on my Etsy page.

                                                                       Front of quilt.

                                                                     Back of quilt.

Tuesday-spent first 2 hours catching upon computer work. I trimmed up the client quilt that I finished yesterday then loaded another. This is a big one and might take me a couple of days to do it. Left at my usual time to go take care of the kitties I'm watching for BQB and found that they had gotten home. I wasn't sure they would be there cause they called that morning to say they were on their way. I just wanted to be sure kitties didn't miss their scheduled feeding.

Wednesday-early AM Dr's appointment and then I had to go by the PO to send out the commission quilt. Got home and got a little lazy and took a nap. Don't know how much will be accomplished today. We'll see.
Update Wednesday: I did start on the large client quilt. Also worked on  a little straightening up the sewing room.

Thursday-came down with all intentions of working on client quilt. Oh look-----squirrel! I got an idea for a mini for the Mini Of The Month Club at the LQS. Thought, "Well I just pick out the fabrics." Then it was, "Well maybe I'll just cut the pieces". Then it was, "Well everything is cut so let's just go ahead and piece it." So, it is now pieced, pattern written, we are good to go.

Worked on client quilt after that. Almost got it done, but then my bobbin thread started giving me problems. I figured before I got to upset and did something to make it worse, I would just walk away from it for the rest of the evening. I'll come down and finish it up in the morning.

That's been my progress this week. Hopefully, I can keep it up.

Piggy Bank Challenge

                                                                   How's Your Savings??

It has been a year since this one started. I decided that I would use what I had saved for my car funds. Even though I managed to save quite a little bit, it's not going to go far in the car fund. We took my car down at the end of April to begin the restoration process. Oh boy!!!! Hopefully I should get it back by the end of July or first part of August. I think I just bought a house (lol). Of course it didn't help that I decided to take out the 6 cylinder and put in a 289. That caused a land slide of changing out A LOT! When it is done, believe me, I will post some (a lot) of pics. Right now here are some pics of what it looks like now.

We are basically at the stage now of getting it all put back together. It has had the final primer put on. Now it's getting the engine and transmission in. The interior should be painted by this week. I think they're working on the interior (seats, door panels, etc.). Once everything is back together it will get the paint on the body. I'm hoping to have this by the end of the month or first part of August. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway, the grand total from my jar is $307.98. I think that pays for one of the wheels, HA, HA.
Every little bit helps, right?

If you want to see what everyone has done with their windfall go HERE. This will take you to Val's Quilting Studio. If we do this again think about joining. It is fun to plan what you'll buy with your savings.

End of June Report

Okay. Trying to get back on track. Let's post on what's been done this last week.

As promised, I will post pics of the tops that I got completed or almost completed at the retreat in Idaho.

This is actually the Sidelines Pattern. I just adjusted the sizes I cut out so it would be a lap size quilt instead of a wall hanging.

This is a five yard pattern. I actually picked this fabric up in a quilt shop on my way to last year's retreat. I had to age it first.

Another five yard quilt. I didn't get the borders on it yet. I'll try to get them on this next week.

Now for what I've done since I've been home.
I got home on Monday, got unpacked and then just chilled.

Tuesday, I just chilled for a while then had to make a trip down to Olympia to pay on the car (being restored) and see the progress on it.

Wednesday, I worked for a while in the "dungeon". I managed to make and apply the binding to the front of a queen size quilt. This is a client quilt I returned some time ago. She called me to see if I could do the binding as she can't do hand work anymore. Then I cut out 30 Pretty pockets to go to the cancer center where I take the totes. Out of the leftover flannel from the pockets I was able to get (50)
4 1/2" squares that I will make into baby quilts for a friend that distributes them to people that need them in her community. After that, we got a delivery of parts that we have been waiting on for the car, so that was another trip down to Olympia to deliver those.

Today I had to go over to BQB's house to get instructions on taking care of her fur babies and plants while she and DH are visiting Mom in CA. I'm going to piece together a back for a commission quilt that I have to get sent out this next week.

That's about it for this month. Tomorrow I have to get really serious about applying myself to working. I have about 10 quilts that need to get done for clients and I would like to get at least 3 of my own done. We'll see how it goes.

That's it for now.

Re-organized?????

I really, really, REALLY need to get back on track with my sewing and work. It seems like, ever since DH retired, I have a hard time setting working hours. To make matters worse, since we started on getting my car restored, that has taken more time away.

I think I need to go back to listing what I have gotten accomplished each day. Maybe that will get me back on track.

I have just gotten back from the Idaho retreat, and boy did we have fun. I have never laughed so hard for a long time. I did indeed get my Gypsy Wife quilt done and my BQB's is done also. In case you missed them, you can see them here. I did manage to get 2 tops pieced and another top that only needs the inner and outer border. When I get them unpacked I will post pics. I also made 6 Quilt For a Cure totes, about 18 Pretty Pockets (learn about them HERE) and some tiny duffels.

One of the projects we all worked on was Little Dress for Africa. We did close to a 100 by the end of the weekend, HURRAY!!!!!! They will be distributed sometime in August.

I don't have any pics for this post but I will get some later today and have them in my next post. or now I'd better get back to work.

Ta Da!!!!!

Well I finally got the Gypsy Wife top complete. I'm going to try to get it quilted by the time I leave for retreat on Wednesday. HA HA!!!! I'll try to get BQB's quilt done also. Here's pics of the finished tops.

n the other front. My car is final getting some paint on it.
The color on the wheels is going to be the color on the car.

Well this will be a short post as I have to get this quilt off so I can put the Wives on.

May Updates

I don't know where this year is going! Has it really been over a month since I've posted?

I've been busy trying to catch up on client quilts ( a never ending endeavor, I'm afraid). I've got them stacked up, but since this is a holiday weekend I've been busy working on some of my stuff. I loaded one of the quilts that will go to my doctor's office on and got it done. In between I've been putting together some frankenbattings to use up some left over batts. I now have another quilt loaded that will be going to the Doctor's. Should have that one finished in about a half hour or so (I'm part way through it now).

My BQB and I have been working on the Gypsy Wife. We have 5 1/2 sections together. I didn't get a picture of it this week ( which is the first week we've been able to work on it since the 1st of April). I'll get a picture of it this next Thursday. By then we should hopefully have at least 7 of the 10 sections together. (Update-Here is the progress from our sewing day.)

These pics are Sections 1 thru 7 completed.
The next pic is Section 8 of BQB's quilt and Sections 8 & 9 of my quilt.

Some of my irises that I purchased last fall have put in a showing in my garden. They are gorgeous.

An update n my restoration project. I have decided to take out the 170 6-cyliner and put in a 289 engine. Oy vay!!!! Did I open a can of worms.
Since I did that I now need to change out the tranny, rear end, go from 13" wheels to 15" wheels (and tires). Needless to say the 13" wheels that we had powder coated along with the new tires and the complete brake  job (cause I also have to go to disc brakes on the back) was money down the drain. Oh well, you can't take it with you.
Here's some pics of how the car is looking now. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks we will have the paint on it. The body work is done now.

Well, I guess I should be getting off here and getting to work.

A Little Update

I know it's been a while since I posted. I said this month was going to be a crazy one.

The first week we left on Wednesday to go set up at the Vancouver Quilt Show. It was fantastic. The quilts were beautiful and we did really good on our sales. The new venue was really nice and light. So much more space to back off and see the quilts and get good pics. When I get my camera down here to "the dungeon" I will post some of the pics.

The following week I went out on Wednesday to set up my space and help unload for the retreat I teach at. Thursday I started working on some of my projects and actually got 3 tops made over the weekend. Here's one of them.

Friday afternoon I did my class. I had 38 people signed up. Let me see if I can find a picture of the class project.

I actually have a third version made also. It is scrappy and the triangles in the corners are all the same (constant) color. If I can find the pic, I'll post later.

I figured I would have a free week the third week of the month to sort of catch up and make more inventory for the next show. Well, that was a laugh. We decided that my little project car should get going soooooooo---

Here she is at her new home for the next 2-3 months. She is getting her spa treatment and will be so pretty when she comes home.

So here we are up to today. I did manage to get a few things for inventory ready. I have also serviced 2 machines that I will take with me to sell (hopefully). Thursday we will be leaving for Odessa, Wa. for the quilt show there.

That's it for now.

Til later,
Hugs & Stitches,
