Progress Report 3/24 thru 3/30

Well let's see what I have done for this week.

Monday-Finished setting up step outs for retreat class, sandwiched Feeling Groovy tablerunner for quilting, cut fabric for JUQ Mystery quilt, finished cutting step 3 of Mystery quilt for LQS and pieced part of it, worked in the garden cleaning everything out of the herb garden (re-doing whole set-up), cleared all the rocks and set up the tiers of pots for herbs.
Tuesday-went to sewing room and did some cleaning up on part of it, putting fabrics and other stuff where it should be (about 1/8 done :-) ), finished piecing step 3 of Mystery quilt for LQS, sewed 1 hexie snowflake in the evening (hand work).
Wednesday-ran errands in the AM, picked fabric for step 4 of Mystery Quilt for LQS, finished quilting raffle quilt for retreat (pics to follow at a later date).
Thursday- hair cut in the A.M., went to a nursery (as in flowers and garden) and bought plants and goodies for a fairy garden.
Friday-worked down in the "black hole" just working on different projects.
Saturday and Sunday was spent at a friends house tie-dyeing shirts for the upcoming retreat we are doing. The theme is Piece, Love, Quilting. So far we have done a little over 100 shirts. Here's a pic of the first batch we did a few months ago.

That's it for this weeks work.

March New FO

Well I did start 2 things this month.

First up is:

I need a new purse before my old one gives up the ghost. I don't know why they don't make things to last. LOL. I got my little wallet purse (Lady Buxton) about 4-5 years ago at a yard sale for a quarter. I guess it's about time for a new one. I have this cut out and ready to take with me to do at a retreat next week.

Second up is:

I have these all cut and ready to start on a mystery quilt. This is the 3rd mystery quilt that I have started. I have one that I've pretty much kept up with cause it's at my LQS and I'm working a month ahead of a group so that if there are any problems with the pattern I can give them a heads up. The second one I'm working on is Celtic Solstice by Bonnie Hunter. I have bits and pieces of different sections done on that one.

That's what's going on this month. Linking up with Cat Patches. Stop by and check on what others are doing.

March Lovely Year of Finishes

I actually did finish this quilt for March LYOF.

Of course, my Quality Control Chief had to inspect this.

This is one that will go to my Dr.'s office for the patients.
My initial post can be found HERE
Hooking up to Sew Bittersweet Designs so you can visit and see what others have been up to.
That's all for now.

Design Wall Monday 3/24

This is what I've got on my design wall. These are the spool block leaders and enders that Bonnie Hunter did a couple of years ago. I think I have enough for a decent sized quilt. These are what I could get on the wall. I still have quite a few more left.

Now what I have to decide is what color sashing to use.

Slow Stitching Sunday 3/23

I'm still working on my hexie project. I've gotten a little further along and here are some pics. I'm almost to the point where I will need to cut and prepare more hexie pieces to put together.

The upper left are pieces that I have sewn together and the bottom right are all the individual pieces I have ready to go together.

I will probably work on these for a while today then switch over to some embroidery work. I have traced out the first block of Vintage Tin from Crabapple Hill and I'm anxious to start.

Progress Report 3/17 thru 3/23

Okay let's see if I did any better this week.

Monday-at LQS for classes.
Tuesday-2 mile walk, started quilting raffle quilt for retreat, worked on step-outs for class at retreat, cut out Barbados bag pieces.
Wednesday-bank,  drop off prescription, Wal-Mart, K-Mart (trying to find B-Day gift), then grocery shopping. By the time I got home put things away and started dinner, then cleaned up---well---I may get around to some sewing this evening. We'll see.
Thursday-Run around trying to find things for door prize drawing for our little quilt group that meets at 1:00, meeting at1 til 3.
Friday-DH took me to the New Hobby Lobby that opened then stopped to pick up prescription, worked out in garden.
Saturday-at LQS to each class until 3:00
Sunday-sewing on class step outs in AM, working in garden until early afternoon (had to drain pond and muck out, then add more dirt around edge of pond.), then back to sewing on step outs and blocks for Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Now for the really bad thing I did this week. I bought fabric. I mean to say I BOUGHT FABRIC!!!
Here is my stash report for this week:
Fabric in this week: 52 1/4
Fabric in YTD:  99 3/8
Fabric used this week: 2 yards
Fabric used YTD:  56 5/8
Total fabric used YTD: 42 3/4 (red means more in than out)
Most of the fabric purchased does have a project assigned to it if that helps.
I REALLY need to spend some quality time in the sewing room :-).
I'm linking up to Patchwork Times so you can check out what others are reporting.

That's it for this week.

RSC 3/22

Boy, I mean to tell you, for such an easy block, I have done more ripping. The first month, which was blue, I wasn't happy with my first try so I ripped them out and re-did them.

This month, teal, I started putting them together and found I had flipped the half square triangles the wrong way. aarggghhhhhh! Oh well---keeps me busy.

I'll start out with posting a pic of the first 2 month's blocks. I didn't get around to posting them before.

I mean to tell you, maybe these blocks are trying to tell me something. After making 4 of the teal blocks I had to pick them apart because I sewed the half square triangle wrong. On one of them I did that twice aaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhh! Well I finally got them done so here they are.

I Just Can't Help Myself!!

Hello, my name is Mary, and I'm a Vintage Sewing Machine addict. :-)
In one of my earlier posts found here you will see one of my "new" old machines that I picked up this last weekend. Well, what I didn't mention, was that I had also bid and won this little beauty on e-Bay and I received it today.

What can I say-----
I really need to stay off of certain sites so I'm not tempted :-). I need to get busy and clean up about 3 machines so I can get them put on my Machine page.

That's it for now.

Progress Report 3/10 thru 3/16

One of these days I will get my act together and really accomplish what I used to. I did absolutely no walking this week. :-(.
So here's the week in review-----
Monday-at LQS for Marti & Me Club.
Tuesday-had an appointment at the bank in the morning. Came home and finished quilting the quilt I had on the machine that will go to my Dr's. Attached binding to the front. Loaded a client quilt.
Wednesday-had to go get a mammo in the morning. Since it was a nice day, worked in the garden and did some weeding. Oh yeah---watched an auction on e-bay and put in the winning bid for a 1935 FW. ;-)
Thursday-worked on doing the step outs on the class I am doing in April. Also put together a wall hanging for one of my clients. She just lost interest in finishing it herself, so she is having me put it together and quilt it.

Friday-did some errands with DH
Saturday-went to a couple of estate sales. One of them had a treadle machine (which I did not buy), the other one had an old Kenmore (I mean an old TANK of a Kenmore) and I didn't buy that one either. However, on my way home I happened to pass another sale and though "what the heck".
I found an old Minnesota machine and at the price ($10.00) I could leave it. It needs some cleaning so I guess I'll do that in my "spare" time.

Tomorrow I will be going to a car show with DH, so no sewing tomorrow. Although, there are antique dealers at the show. Maybe another vintage machine???? :-)

I think I said in a previous post that I had gotten a Stanley 3-in-1 tool box to house one of my FW in. I have sent out the featherweight to be painted (candy apple red metallic). I didn't want the machine to get scratched in the tool box so I lined the inside of it. Here's the pics.

I also have a pic of the raffle quilt top that is for the retreat in April. Every year my friend Linda makes the quilt and I quilt it. The quilt is raffled at the retreat that we attend in April and all proceeds are put back into the retreat to help defray costs.
This is before quilting (I just finished loading it on the machine to be quilted this week).

Sew Expo Shopping

I told you that I had gone to Sew Expo this last week.
Well, here are the goodies I came away with.

I got these to play with when I do my postcard exchanges or fabric dyeing.
The next two pics are some new Day of the Dead fabric I couldn't pass up.

This next one reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe.

The batiks came from the Quilt in a Day booth. The jelly rolls were 40% off and yardage was $8.00 a yard.

These 3 fat quarters were just because.

.

I have been saying I needed to make me a smaller purse and I found these 2 patterns to try out.

The kitties were just another because. Although I may have a project for them.

The book had some interesting things.

Well that was my shopping spree at Expo. I guess I'd better behave for a while.

Here is my entry for March Lovely Year of Finishes

This quilt top was given to me for my Dr.'s office. I just need to quilt it and bind it. Hoping I can get to it shortly in between client quilts.

Well I'm slowly getting things done.
Here is my progress thru this week.

Monday-Quilted Costa Maya sample that I will be teaching at April Retreat. See pic here.
Tuesday-2 mile walk, quilted a client quilt. attached binding to Costa Maya.
Wednesday-2 mile walk, quilted another client quilt, loaded and started another client quilt.

Saturday-taught the last session of Beginning Quilting at LQS.
Sunday-cut out a second Costa Maya so I can make the step outs for class. Finished Section 2 from Clue 2 on a Mystery Quilt at LQS. Started cutting out Clue 3 on MQ. Also worked on sample for Marti & Me until I realized I didn't have enough pieces cut and didn't have the fabric to cut them.
Here's the fabric I'm making the second Costa Maya from.

Stash Report:
I must admit--------I've been a baaad girl this week. I sort of got carried away at Sew Expo.
I have pics in my next post as to what I bought.

Fabric added:  18 yards
Added YTD:  40 yards
Fabric used:  2 yards
Used YTD:  43 yards

Total Used/Added:  3 yards

So far I'm staying ahead of the game.

Well that's it for now.
